Summary/Abstract: This article discusses some issues involved in incorporating and adapting the latest research in language studies in teaching spoken German at the level of philology. It also contributes to the discussion on the applicability of the latest research results and linguistic descriptions in language teaching at that level. Both the theoretical considerations and the empirical research results presented in the article as well as the examples of practical solutions aim to improve methods of teaching and learning a foreign language in the German philology education. They may also be an inspiration for didactics of other foreign languages at the level of philology studies.
