Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to provide accounts of academic discourse in teaching communicative skills. Applying a discoursive approach to the category of politeness, the authors try to show how this discourse is constructed from the point of view of pragmatics. It is argued that in teaching communicative competences it is more essential to take into consideration speech (parole) problems than language ones. Meanwhile, such approach, concludes the article, seems to be the challenge for both methodologists and linguists.
