Summary/Abstract: My thesis is dealing by the Institute of Presidency in the Republic of Lithuania and its position in the lithuanian constitutional and political system. Attention given to the development of the Institute of Presidency in the constitutional and historical periods during the 20th century. This development represents ideological, cultural and historical elements, on which the present constitutional system is dealing. In the Chapter Two my work builds on the historical overview and describes the position of the Institute of Presidency in the modern constitutional system of the Republic of Lithuania. Considerable attention is devoted to process of impeachment, which was initiated against the president Rolandas Paksas and has significantly influenced to the perception of the Institute of Presidency by the citizens. My thesis describe reasons, which led to the opening of the process of the impeachment, its course and the consequences that resulted from this process.
