Conditions for the development of social capital in Spain and in Poland – research analysis

Summary/Abstract: Social capital as a resource should be regarded as one of the elements of the economic growth in economies based on knowledge and the human factor. Thus, it is reasonable to study groups in terms of the quality of their social capital. The main objective of this paper is to present selected results of the survey conducted among Polish and Spanish students. The survey was carried out among students of the Faculty of Economics and Management, University of Szczecin, Poland and the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, University of Vigo, Spain at the end of 2013. Presented paper is both theoretical and empirical. The aim of the its first part is to present the theoretical background of social capital. The second part describe methodology used in the paper and presents results from the survey. Analysis of the research enable to describe bonding type of social capital with comparison to Spanish and Polish environment. Therefore, one could distinguish distinctions of students bonding social capital in the level of trust in their proximal and distal environment and circumstances and frequency of helping other people.
