Summary/Abstract: The article deals with social and legal problematic of corporal punishment of children. International recommendations, experience of other countries, also social, cultural, pedagogical and legal development tendencies in Lithuania are analysed. The authors make the conclusion that legal prohibition of corporal punishment of children is necessary in Lithuania, and it will form a new attitude in the society. Several versions of possible legal regulation are suggested for further discussions in a wider circle.
