Summary/Abstract: In the paper author analyses three selected comics from DC Comics and Marvel Comics (Iron Fist, Flash and Daredevil) and presents various ways of sports thematisation in the so-called superhero comics. The theme of sport plays a central role in all three texts, because a certain type of sport (Kung Fu, running, boxing and gymnastics) is immanently linked to the central characters. Within the story, the use of sport motif can move in various meanings from metaphorical level (sport as a symbol of life, life struggle), initiation (sport as a way of change from a boy to a man on the physical and mental level), to existential (safe of the life or its loss) or sport can perform in its "pure" non-metaphorical form, but it also has a certain cathartic or collision function.
