Summary/Abstract: The scientific style understood as a reservoir of conventions is characterised by its variantivity. The conventions here are not always congruent to one another and the core determinant for their application turns out to be the tradition of research. One aspect of the style which is going to be analysed is the way in which authors manifest their presence in scientific texts. The primary aim of this paper is, accordingly, to find the answer to the question whether the conventions in the use of personal and impersonal forms of expression in the abstracts of scientific papers from different research traditions are mutually congruent. The present analysis finds its justification in the existing gap in the research within the scope of conducting the contrastive study for preferred textual manifestations of the authors of the Polish, English, and German abstracts of scientific papers.
