Summary/Abstract: The introduction of the reversed mortgage loan on the Polish banking market opened up the possibility for older people to obtain an additional source of income. The aim of this paper is to analyse the relevant legislation, with particular reference to the nature of the solutions adopted. Less than three years of the Reversed Mortgage Loan Act’s validity indicate that this act becomes a deadlock, mainly because banks are not interested in concluding such agreements. The present study also indicates those provisions of the Reverse Mortgage Loan Act, which treat the borrower in a privileged manner. An attempt was also made to answer the question of whether reversed mortgage loan is a real chance for a better life for the senior? The analytical method was used as the basic research method. The author’s aim was not to discuss legal regulations in detail, but to identify the most important elements of the reversed mortgage loan and to attempt to answer the question as to who this particular legal solution is primarily aimed at.
