Summary/Abstract: The analysis of spontaneous reporting for doctor’s visits is considered to be a good measure of patients’ expressed needs, their health, and an important element in the organization of medical services and their functioning by the National Health Fund (NFZ). The purpose of this paper is to describe selected analysis results of spontaneous reporting of patients to specialist clinics, in order to emphasize the directions and the scope of medical institutions’ activities in terms of managing health services. The retrospective-prospective analysis covered the medical records of patients who reported to a dermatological clinic in Szczecin between 1979 and 2006, and obtained medical advice which was entered into patient’s medical history. 40,000 patients, mostly adults, were included. Finally, 31,500 people were qualified for the analysis. The relationships between the variables were analyzed with the statistical test X2, where p≤0.05. As a result of the research, it was found that the analysis of the reasons for reporting (spontaneous and expressed) and the seasonality of reports to a particular clinic in the analyzed long-term period allowed for: improvement of management of health services in a given medical specialization (improvement of clinic functioning by proper organization of doctor's working time, shortened waiting time for medical visits, reduction of psychological and physical stress of doctors); improvement of the quality of services and positive reception of the institution (clinic) by the public; taking into account the specific nature of seasonal reporting for doctor’s visits (as an essential element in the management of health services).
