Summary/Abstract: The main aim of this paper is to show the importance of managing diversity for the development of a modern enterprise. Diversity management is an essential element of business development in the new economy. The new economy is the result of the transition from a manufacturing-based economy to a service-based economy. Running a business in a new economy is conditioned by a number of factors, including the ability of the management, organizational culture and intangible assets management. Diversity is a result of regulatory, ethical and economic results. Diversity in a knowledge-based economy and new technologies is one of the cornerstones of a strategy for long-term development. Differences in the level of education, work experience, skills, gender or age are an important element of competitiveness. Diversity management helps to attract new customers and can help to improve better business results. Polish companies are characterized by a relatively low level of implementation of diversity policy, higher for large business entities. The main factor for the development of an organization is a comprehensive approach to its development, taking into account the various factors that influence quantitative and qualitative progress and taking into account diversity in different areas of the organization.
