Summary/Abstract: In Mexico, the development of MIPYMES is key to the promotion and sustenance of the country’s economy, representing 94% of the business sector and contributing 74% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In this research, a group of family MIPYMES from southern Sonora, Mexico was analyzed. Showing diverse needs in relation to their business functions, the following questions arise: What are the main problems faced by MSMEs in their management and daily activities? What areas of operation should improve? What type of training do they require? An objective is to make a diagnosis on functions and business management of the group of MSMEs in this study; with the purpose of improving its operational functions. The research is descriptive, not experimental, the methodology used is under the model of business consulting certified in Mexico. The results show the current situation of these companies: lack of training to human resources in quality and service, lack of strategic planning, financial control, and environmental policies among other aspects. The proposed strategies of this research are aimed at contributing to a better organization.
