Relation Between Information Sources and Innovation Firm Performance – the Case of Polish Medium and High Tech Sector

Summary/Abstract: This article shows relationships between the source of information and the type of innovative activity. The purpose of the article is to determine the impact of the source of information on the innovative activity of enterprises representing the medium-high technology industry in Poland. The survey includes 981 industrial enterprises. The first part of this paper focus on explaining as such terms as innovation, innovation process, network, and innovation activity. The following part includes a research methodology. The last part of the paper consists of results and conclusions. The most frequently indicated sources of information for innovations are customers, internal sources as well as conferences, fairs and exhibitions. The results show that information from institutions representing the academic institutions support research and development expenditure the most. On the other hand, information from both suppliers and customers increases the probability of introducing new products.
