Summary/Abstract: Drawing largely on unpublished archival material, Szumna outlines the most important tendencies in Jan Błoński’s early criticism. She portrays the milieu from which Błoński emerged and shows how his interest in experimental literature influenced his literary criticism. Szumna also discusses the influences behind Błoński’s earliest writings on Miłosz and Różewicz and the games he plays with the reader in these texts.
