Summary/Abstract: This article presents the project of a hermeneutics of computer games as an alternative to current game studies. Kłosiński builds on Paul Ricoeur’s work – in particular his reflections on Hans-Georg Gadamer’s game theory and on fiction in literature – as Ricoeur helps raise questions about video games as cultural texts. Examining the issue of the literariness of video games as well as methods for their analysis and interpretation, Kłosiński argues that fictional computer games use fiction to configure and reconfigure reality as well as the human experience of being in the world.
