Summary/Abstract: Migration is a process which implies long term consequences. The present study targets the migration patterns within the urban areas of Romania, in the wider context of a research project aiming at analyzing the urban dysfunctions in the country, following the general internal migration trends spanning from 1964 to nowadays. The evolution of the cities in the Communist era took place under the influence of forced urbanization and industrialization, both processes blocking the natural dynamics of migration flows, dysfunction which has perpetuated after the fall of the Communist regime too.
