Summary/Abstract: Reşid Bey Efendiyev, who is one of the famous educators and thespians of contemporary Azerbaijani literature, is among the successful representatives of Mirza Fethali Ahundzade realist literary school. He was born in 1863 as a member of a spiritual family in Sheki, and received a good education thanks to the efforts of his family. Considering that he was a brilliant student, his teachers advised him to go to Gori Seminariya for Teachers (School for Teachers) in Trankafkasia. He also followed those recommendations and was accepted to the school by succeeding in the exam. The author, who spent a productive education life here, tried to improve himself in various fields. He worked as a teacher for about 60 years after he graduated from school. He served his country together with a group of educator intellectuals such as Abdulla Shaiq (1881-1959), Süleyman Sani Ahundov (1875-1939), Sultan Mecit Ganizade (1866-1942), and Habib Bey Mahmudbeyov (1864-1928), who later became famous in Azerbaijan. He concentrated all his efforts and activities on the illumination of the Azerbaijani Turkish people. Efendiyev, whose educational identity was always on the frontline, also wrote poems with didactic content for children. He also undertook tasks such as preparing textbooks for students and translating texts which were appropriate for children's spirits from foreign languages. Having shown great sacrifices for education, Efendiyev was able to publish the textbooks he had created with various difficulties in Istanbul, Tbilisi and Baku after a long struggle. According to our findings, Reşid Bey Efendiyev, whose first experiments with writing were in the form of poetry, also wrote important theatrical works that would earn him a reputation over time. Qan Ocağı (Blood Stove), Qonşu Qonşu Olsa Kor Qız Ere Geder (Where Does the Blind Girl Go If the Neighbor is Loyal) , Saqqalın Kerameti (Miracle of Beard), Bir Saç Telinin Kıymeti (The Value of A Hair), Pul Delisi (Stamp Fan), Tiflis Seferi (Tbilisi Expedition), Diş Ağrısı (Toothache) and Qızıl Gül (Red Rose) comedies are his works that brought sound in Azerbaijani literature. His comedies are competent and successful texts which show that he was following the path opened by Mirza Fethali Ahundzade. He staged his plays primarily in schools and even performed personally in these plays. As a result of our research, we found that there was not enough scientific research on Reşid Bey Efendiyev and his works in Turkey. Through our work, we provided information about both the author and his works. However, we have reached new information and findings on the theatrical studies and identity of the author. In this respect, our work has unique characteristics. As a result of the examination, the educational and theatrical aspects of Efendiyev, who has a multidimentional identity, are presented in the light of scientific evidence. Through this article, it is aimed to introduce Reşid Bey Efendiyev, one of the leading figures of Azerbaijani literature, as he deserves first in Turkey and then in the Turkic world.
