Summary/Abstract: Contemporary research on European social policy is determined by three major problems: unemployment, demographic crisis, and ageing. This paper examines the characteristics and implications of aging in Norway, focusing on the influence of cultural heritage, welfare state transformation of caregiving, and the development of innovation in the care services for elderly people. There is both a tremendous need and a vast potential to take innovative steps and find new solutions for meeting future challenges in aging societies. This paper argues that Poland should emulate the Norwegian model that involves civil society as an important participant in shaping the process of implementation of innovative steps in care service and “live longer work longer” policy.
