Summary/Abstract: The paper signalises two aspects of social change exerting a significant impact on contemporary Polish politics, ones frequently omitted in its analysis. The first of the two issues that the author draws attention is the distinct change in the role of right-wing media – and its institutionalisation – as an alternative media movement striving both quantitatively and ideologically to match the mainstream media in its influential power. The second is the manner in which content is constructed by ‘independent’ media with the aid of asymmetric concepts, both in regard to the meaning of the concepts themselves and the role asymmetry plays in supporting political activity, and concerning the risks of this method for narrative-building spreading to the remaining media. This development is reinforcing group identity while carrying the risk of hindering or even downright blocking the possibility of intercommunication between groups, and perpetuating the disjunctive resources of knowledge.
