Summary/Abstract: The Polish Socialists Party (PPS) was established during the Paris Convention in 1892. PPS had closed its activity at the Unity Congress in 1948. During its existence, it actively participated in the socio-political life of the country. Polish socialist movement was an im-portant part of Polish political culture. The PPS Tomaszow organization entered since February 1919 in the District of Łódź-Suburbs. It was one of the largest organizations in its area. In 1921 a PPS District Committee was established in Tomaszów Mazowiecki. After some time, the organization was incor-porated into the Piotrkow organization. PPS has expanded its profes-sional organizations, gaining extensive influence among the proletar-iat. PPS also gained a considerable position in urban self-government.The election campaigns for local government and parliament constituted one of the most important events in the political life of the PPS. The 1930 elections brought a lot of disappointment to the party. 1935–1939 is a long period when the PPS was out of parliament. This has led to greater efforts to fight for influence in urban self-government.
