Summary/Abstract: As intended use and meanings ascribed to textiles change over time, textile products shape according to the conditions of the present day and the culture of the society. In this regard, textile products are accepted as cultural elements which carry and reflect society’s characteristics as material, form and design. After the Industrial Revolution, design culture and context conquering modern community, caused the development and interpretation of production methods as well as the quest for new materials to be used in avandgarde designs in textile industry just as in other industries. Thus, the aim of this research is to emphasize concept of creativity in textile design and to push the limits of form in textile design by employing innovative materials. In order to reach this aim Conceptual Design approach is conducted and design principles are selected accordingly in search of non-textile materials other than woven, knitted or nonwoven products. Wooden materials are chosen amongst many other materials by brainstorming technique and an experimental design research is carried out to test the boundaries of the textile surface concept. The findings of the experimental design are discussed.
