Summary/Abstract: Researching our oral tradition, V. Popa established his poetic principles. Studying it, he came to the conclusion that the man of the time he lived in was far away from the primeval source from which the folk author drew his life and creative force. Transposing some genres and beliefs, as well as other elements which we could define as the folklore ones, V. Popa built the image of his poetic reality. In addition to the genre influx of the oral literature and various beliefs related to the magic of words, mythological beings and phenomena, one can notice an entire system of beliefs related to the binary opposition below-above, the world tree, as well as those related to the anthropo- gony and man as the measure of all things.
