Innovation Activity in Family Businesses – the Prospect of Inter-organizational Cooperation

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to identify the main directions of research in the field of innovation-related cooperation between family businesses and external entities.The literature review shows that existing research provide some knowledge of the willingness to inter-organizational cooperation and the general characteristics external relations maintained by family businesses. Little is known about the motives of such cooperation and the criteria used by family firms when choosing partners. The author also suggests conducting further research on the impact of succession on innovation-related cooperation between family businesses and external entities.
