Summary/Abstract: In this study Kybele's iconography will focus on Tympanon, which has not been studied much so far. This musical instrument, which is used in almost all the descriptions of the Goddess from the classical to the Late Antiquity, is the most characteristic, perhaps the most important, attribute in the iconography of the Goddess. The subject of the study is the investigation of the location of the Tympanon in Kybele's iconography and why it is so important in the classical age that this instrument is of such importance in the iconography of the Goddess. It will also focus on the importance of this instrument in the cult of Kybele and in the cult rituals. The role of the Kybele cult statue of Agorakritos in Metroon in Athens will be examined in this context and how the goddess is perceived in the classical age.
