Summary/Abstract: The archaeological value of Pergamon, which arose from one of the earliest and important settlements of history of civilization in western Anatolia region, was explored by Germans who were doing several studies in that area towards the middle of XIX. century. As a result of some assessments, it was decided to transport this big city to Pergamon Museum, which was settled in Berlin, Germany, with or without permission. In this study, the excavation process which started in 1866 in Bergama till Turkish Republic period is mentioned.
