RITUAL BREAD DENOMINATIONS

Summary/Abstract: Here the attention is drawn to the names of ritual bread and the indications of their appearance; an attempt is made as well to make a partial characteristics of the terms in geographical aspect. The indications of appearance of the terms are summarized in 16 groups, which reveal the diversity of denominations and the dialectical differences between them, which are characteristic for different region in Bulgaria. Ritual bread is a specific national phenomenon and this is emphasized in the course of terms analysis. Most of the denominations are of domestic origin, but there are met some loan-words from other languages too. According to their geographical distribution the denominations are separated in three groups: local, regional and common Bulgarian ritual bread denominations.
