Aspects of cosmopolitanism in essays of Ilija Trojanow

Summary/Abstract: The study of the phenomenon of cosmopolitanism in the essayistic works of Troianov is a challenge against the current development in Europe and worldwide – attempted denial of multiculturalism as a life philosophy and image of the world and returning to the limitations and “domiciles” of nation-states, to the conservatism of borders and building new walls, to the opposition from cultural and religious point of view. The article thematizes problems of multicultural societies counter conservative arguments for maintaining national and ethnic identities as a panacea for the survival of humanity.
