Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to discuss the characteristic aspects of the Turkish regional novel taking Ya$ar Kemal’s novel Ortadirek (The Wind from the Plain) as an example, in terms of its ability to refer to universality between man and nature while featuring a particular geographical venue and a particular local people who inhabits this region.
