Summary/Abstract: The article deals with figures of two guitar virtuosos of the first half of the 20th century Charlie Christian and Django Reinhardt in the context of introducing the guitar into jazz art. The contribution of both guitarists to a jazz guitar performance of the 20th century and to the jazz manouche style formation in particular is analysed.
