Summary/Abstract: The provisions of individual electoral law, and after the 2011 Code of Elections to a large extent determine the functioning of local self-government, including communal. It influenced a number of relations between the executive body and the controlling entity. This leads indirectly to the emergence of coexistence in municipalities - the situation in which the mayor derives from a different political option than the majority in the council. The aim of the study is to analyze the results of municipal elections in the communes of Western Pomerania voivodship in the years 2006-2014, in terms of the scale of coexistence. The study was conducted in 65 cities, including three cities with district rights - Szczecin, Koszalin and Swinoujscie.
