Thus, itis exposed to many threats related to its proper functioning and it is often unable to copewith them. Parents who are overwhelmed by their careers and left without support are often helpless against growing family problems. One of the basic tasks of the Police is to protect people’s lives and health. During adolescence misunderstandings intensify and there are different tensionson the line parents – the child, often pointing to the crisis. The emerging crisis that manifestsas a disturbance of values in the family can take many forms. A clear manifestation of the crisis between parents and children which on the one hand is a sign of disturbance invalues in the family and on the other – demoralization of minors, are the escapes of children from the family home which are treated by the police as missings. From 2014 to 2016the Municipal Police Headquarters in Lodz conducted 2811 search activities of missing people, 1545 of them concerned children, which constitutes 55.00% of all activities. 496 out of 1545 missing children ran away from the family home, which constitutes 32.1% of the total number of children sought. The escape of an adolescent from the family home is a manifestation of the crisis and perturbation in the family, as well as the sign of the demoralization of the minor. The most common reasons for the escape of adolescents from familyhomes include family problems, lack of home closeness, excessive parental demands, curiosity of the world, negative impact of the child’s peers which is a sign of demoralization. Every escape of an adolescent (child) from home is his missing, but not every child’s missing is his escape. In the knowledge of family crises and pathologies it is important forstate institutions and non-governmental organizations to react early enough to counteractthe most tragic events leading to irreversible disturbances in family relationships.
