Summary/Abstract: It was the steel industry that gave birth to the colony named later Tomaszów Mazowiecki. It is precisely here, in the virgin forest on the edge of Pilica, that account Tomasz Ostrowski had a steelmaking furnace built in 1788. It is the son of Tomasz Ostrowski's account, Antoni Ostrowski, who linked the development of the colony to the textile industry. In 1830, thanks to his efforts, the colony obtained the rights of the city. In Tomaszów there lived in harmony the faithful of three religions: Catholic, Protestant and Jewish. For the inhabitants of Tomaszów the account Antoni Ostrowski organized the school and the centers of the religious cult.
