Summary/Abstract: In Poland, the process of decentralization has been observed since the 1990s. It has become part of transformation system that has been made for political and economic purposes. It also refers to labour market policies. The paper attempts to explain the process of decentralization in the field of labour market policy. To this end, the implementation of the principle of decentralization in the administrative dimension was based on the division of competencies between different levels of government (self-government). The study also covered the economic dimension of decentralization, which involved transferring tasks from the Public Employment Services to the private institutions and non-government sectors. The article was based on the studies available literature of the subject.
