Summary/Abstract: The Albanian language was formed as a particular language of the Indo-European family in a geographical, historical and cultural environment where, from ancient times to modern times, trends, and models of different languages and cultures have influ-enced. Despite these continuous and multi-secular contacts, the Albanian has been able to escape the assimilation by languages of the great empires that have dominated, one after another, for centuries on its territory and has kept its particular language with its own phonetic, grammatical and lexical system. It has evolved according to its internal rules and in accordance with the general trends of evolution of other Indo-European languages. However, the current Albanian keeps visible traces of these contacts, espe-cially in the field of lexic and the building of words
