Summary/Abstract: The paper has to do with the opportunities of family business development in rural areas. The author analyses the reasons for their establishment, functions to play, explains the need to support them and formulates recommendations for their further succeeding. The three cases of family businesses, operating in the rural areas in the Łowicz commune, depict business models to apply in such conditions. The businesses have achieved financial success, created new jobs, contributed to the development of the location and region they operate in.
