Summary/Abstract: In the article the currently observed phenomenon of the popularity of running is discussed. The comprehensive description of changes among the attitude to one’s own body during runner’s career is proposed. Collected empiric data (own researches and review of the literature) shows that desire for preventing own health drives people to start runner’s trainings. Nevertheless, this pro-health motivation is subsequently replaced by sportive motivation. The need for testing one’s own body capabilities (confronting other runners or own life records) may be analyzed according to the Nietzschean perspective. In the article results of own surveys among participants of DOZ Lodz Marathon with PZU are used.
