Summary/Abstract: functional, when considering the educational needs of the civil society. The specially created model of the social role of the citizen in the civil society allowed me to carry out the content analysis of statutory documents of ZHP and the survey of scouts from Łódź. The results make it reasonable to conclude that people educated in ZHP will probably tend to participate in creating civil society in Poland. It is due to their civic awareness, sensitivity to common property and the belief that co-operation with other people may be efficient.
