Markets in the medieval counties of Transylvania

Summary/Abstract: The Hungarian kings established during the 11th and 12th centuries several rules concerning the organisation of markets. In an early period, only the king had the right to establish markets, but with the time, feudal lords could could organise their own markets. Unlike weekly market, annual fairs had a much bigger attraction and were therefore of major importance.
