Summary/Abstract: The left hermeneutics of Christianity, presented in the article, is a look at the question of God, revelation and faith through the eyes of Terry Eagleton and Peter Sloterdijk. Both modern thinkers admit to a leftist fascination and hereby interpret Christianity. However, they cannot, as the present writer will point out, understand the revelation as the work of God, „the Word dwelling among us.” Religion for them remains only some human effort, illusion and projection. In such a way they also view Jesus, who, like Marx mainly interested in the poor, heralds a new social order.
