Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to funeral ceremonies and studies the cults of the «River of Death» and the boat, practiced by the ancient and the medieval population of the Eastern Europe. The authors infer that the concept of the «River of Death» and the boat as the means to overcome the barrier between «the world of the alive» and «the world of the dead» appeared on the huge Eurasian area during the Neolithic epoch, and some of its vestiges are well preserved even nowadays.
