Application of Sustainable Value in Comparative Analysis of Companies

Summary/Abstract: Creation of value is an ultimate goal of every economic activity. One of the promising methods of assessment how environmental factors influence creation of value is Sustainable Value, measure proposed by Figge. Sustainable Value is based on the idea of opportunity cost and can be used to compare alternative applications of environmental resources by economic units. The goal of the paper is to assess Sustainable Value for some refining and chemical companies from the CEE region, and to indicate their position related to sustainability in comparison to the world leaders.
