Labelling of tyres as a part of sustainable mobility policy in the European Union

Summary/Abstract: Energy conservation and environmental protection are the main reasons of the concept of introduction of tyre labelling in the European Union. A label describes in a synthetic way the tyre main properties related to energy consumption and driving behaviour. This administrative requirement to be met by tyre producers has already led to structural changes in the chemical sector, and in the close future those changes will be reshaping the current state of the tyre market. The goal of the paper is to describe labelling scheme in the UE and to assess consequences of labelling introduction in the short and long term.
