Summary/Abstract: Distinct relations can be identified between The Crimson Coach and mainly the French and Russian literature, at the same time the novel contains some allusions to the Spanish (Rezeda calls himself Don Quijote), Italian (Dante and Boccaccio), German (Goethe, von Kleist) and British (Thackeray, Dickens) literature. In addition, Krúdy’s novel is full of names and hints regarding real Hungarian and foreign persons. The logic of the meta novel offers to the author an opportunity to play with the truth, which confuses the reader, who can only hardly decide whether believe the main characters’ words or not.
