Summary/Abstract: The first translation of Pinocchio into Hungarian language was published in 1899, and within a century six more translations are printed in several editions. While the first translation, which is rather a re-writing, does not seem to focus on any pedagogical objective, being made just for the purpose of entertainment, the second, and most of all the third of 1928, show a more child upbringing-focused objective.
