Summary/Abstract: This article attempts at describing the representations of various animals in Agnieszka Osiecka’s poetry: their function and the form of artistic influence. The poet is a clever observer of animals in which humans can perceive themselves. Sometimes the animals in their beauty and deftness testify to the perfection of the divine work; at other times – portrayed in deterministic terms - naked and defenseless in the face of death, they bring to mind the irrevocable destiny of man. Sometimes these animals witness human characters making their choices – more or less counsels. Thanks to the animals’ presence this poetry bustles with life, even though it reminds the reader of his own finiteness.
