Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to compare the cost of funding a mortgage loan contracted at different times in the years 2001–2012 in the Swiss franc and gold. Hypothesised: taking out a loan denominated in CHF was significantly cheaper than in the period of the loan zloty. Since 2001 loans denominated in CHF is cheaper in repayment, excluding annual maintenance costs. What is closer to 2010, the effectiveness of this form of financing is lower, for example, in 2008, is about 22 thousand zł. However, in the next month installment loan means lower by 1.83 thousand zł. The volume of mortgage loans since 2008 drastically increases, making the scale of the problem goes far beyond the 5–10 thousand people but it starts to touch 80–120 thousand people. The problem of foreign currency loans is becoming a subject of public debate and the search for a political solution.
