Summary/Abstract: Romania-Israel bilateral relations since 1948 were characterized by continuity. In 2014 we celebrated 45 years since, on 17 August 1969 diplomatic representation between the two countries was raised to the rank of ambassador. We consider necessary to remember the most important landmarks of the Romanian-Israeli relations, in the first decade after the establishment of contacts between the two countries. Among the most important are recorded in this interval, we note: reaching the peak of Jewish emigration from Romania to Israel in 1950, with a total of 47,071 persons emigrated; raising diplomatic representation in 1956, bilateral relations with a slight sweetening, while the Zionist organizations were banned and suffered Jewish emigration.
