Summary/Abstract: The present research is focused on the relationship between religion and politics in the selected countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, and their ethnic, religious and political complexity. At certain social and political points religion and politics meet and cooperate; at others, they divert. Religion is sometimes used by political leaders and denominational groups for their own ends and to gain social support. The problems discussed in this paper concern mainly Sub-Saharan states, though some are relevant in North Africa too. The research takes into account religious and political diversity and its history. It is very difficult to ignore the presence of religion in politics in the public life today
