POSITION AND PERSPECTIVE OF THE RIDDLE STUDIES AS A SHORT FORM OF ORAL LITERATURE

Summary/Abstract: Composition of oral literary has cultivated its geners, which in panel of Albanian folklore has been studied, but not in equal mass. Riddle like a short form of this composition together with myth, fables, fairytales, and proverbs are grouped in types of early thinkings, which were created and spread in many cultures around the world. Presence of riddles in our oral composition is an evidence of one old mythological, spiritual and philosophical culture. This form, eventhough short one, in its perception carries authentical, pilosophical, and utilitarian literary values. These polyvalent values of riddles have been transmited in continuity in composition of oral literature, which like a component part of folklore is irreplaceable determinant of our ethnic identity and vital expression of this tradition. This tradition, during cultural evolution is always in movement, growing and changeing accorrding to the level of cultural evolution of its representives. Hence, research and study of tradition is necessary continnonsly. Riddle is in focus of my investigation for a period of time. Hence, in this commentary I will present circumstance and perspective of the study of riddle like a short form of oral literature, within albanian folklore, by determining it with its essential characeristics.
