Press photography and caption – typological approach

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the typology of captions under the photographs in newspapers. The analysis shows the relationship between the image and the text that describes it. The goal of this study is to show how the ways in which word that accompanies the image infiuences the reading of the visual content. The chapter is based on the examples of three daily newspapers with the highest market shares.
