SOME PECULIARITIES OF SOIL COVER FROM THE BASIN AREA OF CĂLMĂŢUI (TELEORMAN COUNTY)

Summary/Abstract: Some peculiarities of soil cover from the basin area of Călmăţui (Teleorman County). The catchment Călmăţui, located in Boianu Plain, is characterized by a relative homogeneousness of pedological factors (relief, parental matrials, climate, waters, vegetation) and quite a great variety of the soils. Thus, there have been identified diverse types and subtypes of soil from classes of: cernisol, luvisol, pelisol, hidrisol, salsodisol, protisol and antrisol. Most of these soils show favorable physical-mechanical and hydrophysical properties, but to maintain their fertility the following actions are recommended: appropriate land use, supplement moderate doses of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers on a fined background with manure, use irrigating system, to take measures against soil erosion, to protect soils located on slopes. In the case of hydrosol, the water excess should be eliminated and the soil should be deeply ploughed.
